Gary Chaloner is a veteran of Australian comics. Beginning as a publisher with Cyclone Comics in the late 70’s/ 80’s his work has spanned titles like The Jackaroo, The Southern Squadron, Dark Nebula, GI Joe Australia, Flash Damingo and CCQ (Cyclone Comics Quarterly) before starting to work for the likes of Dark Horse and Kitchen Sink Press and on titles such as Planet of the Apes: Urchak’s Folly and The Spirit: The New adventures.
Early on, Gary took Skye Ogden on as a work experience student schooling him in the ways of sequential storytelling and graphic design. From this experience, Wolfgang Bylsma and Skye Ogden eventually founded Gestalt in 2005. Fate would have Chaloner work with Gestalt many years later on Unmasked, with Gestalt also re-releasing Chaloner’s creator-owned The Undertaker Morton Stone series, which also featured artwork from Ben Templesmith and Ashley Wood.
