Grit, sweat and super-villain realism

The taste of grit, sweat and stubble in Christian Read and Emily K. Smith‘s latest graphic novel, Unmasked #2, is reflected through the latest Deer In The Xenon-Arc Lights review.

“Comics don’t often play by real rules when it comes to the real societies that they set themselves in and Christian uses this book to call them on this: you can’t actually sell the gold bullion that you brilliantly steal and can’t actually spend the small chunk of money that you get for trading it; the world simply doesn’t work that way. Though of course the currency isn’t the real reason why these characters do what they do, theirs is a much baser drive.”

Recently released as a digital exclusive on Graphicly, Unmasked #2 continues exploring the world of former super-villains – can a super-villain really go straight? Would they even want to?
